We love hearing your wedding news and where you are in the planning process. We have so many brides that view our site from across the globe, in search for bridal inspiration. We’re now introducing STB Proposals to our selection of posts. This is where we feature your engagement and proposal stories!

The owner of the stunning ring in this article is STB bride, Codie. We caught up with Codie to find out all the details surrounding the proposal!

The Proposal

Steven proposed on 30.03.2015 on our two year anniversary in his parents back garden- It was more romantic than it sounds!

The weekend before he had given me money to buy a dress for our anniversary but didn’t tell me what we were doing for it. On the day he gave me a letter telling me what to get ready.

After work I got another letter with instructions to get in a taxi that would be outside our apartment. Eventually we ended up at his parents which made me very confused. I was led into the garden where it was raining (very The Notebook!) and the garden was set up with beautiful lights and candles.

Under the pagoda it was set up for dinner with music and blankets and a heater. We had a lovely meal. I went inside to the loo (cringe!) and when I came back he made me close my eyes. When I opened them he was on one knee and had set one of our favourite songs up to play in the background. We hugged for ages.

Was it a surprise proposal? Or did you have any suspicions leading up to it?

I knew he was going to propose sometime this year. We can’t keep anything from each other!

Tell us about the ring!

He chose the ring and it is a beautiful white gold ring.

To get my size he kept trying to measure my finger with string whilst I was asleep but didn’t manage it.

In the end we were in a jewellery shop and decided to just get me measured.

Have you set a date yet? What type of wedding do you want?

We want to get married in the summer of 2017!

We want a fun, festival style wedding. We found a venue that has a licence to get married outside and even with it being so far away (about 5 hours!) it is worth it. We want it to be relaxed, with everyone having fun, rather than anything too formal.

Lastly, can you share any planning tips with STB readers?

My wedding tip would be to not rush into anything. Write a list of things you really want so you don’t forget it along the way in the excitement.

Congratulations to Codie and Steven! Thank you for sharing your story!
