Your skin is the largest organ you have, so it is best you take care of your skincare. Health and vitality is portrayed by glowing skin. Dull or dry skin can make you feel less than your best, and that is the last thing you want on your wedding day.
Here are 10 lifestyle changes that you can implement as part of your bridal beauty and skincare routine.
10. Have Shorter Showers
A brilliant way to help get rid of toxins is steam and heat. However, running hot water over your skin for more than a few minutes at a time can strip away oil from your skin, leaving it looking tired and dull. Try to minimise your skin’s exposure to water that is hot.
Consider cooling down the temperature in the latter part of your shower to improve circulation. This will give your face a more toned and youthful appearance and really enhance your skincare routine.
9. Healthy Eating
Eating a diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables is going to boost the vitamins and antioxidants in your body. Eating healthy fats, like fish oils, and staying away from processed foods with lots of preservatives may have a direct connection to healthier looking skin.
8. Avoid Smoke
When the skin is exposed to a cigarette smoke, you’re coating your face with all sorts of chemical toxins. This will affect the oxidative stress in your skin sells, leading to prematurely aged skin.
If you smoke, consider your skincare routine as another reason to quit.
7. Find a Cleansing Routine That Works For You
Never rob your skin of moisture by washing it too often, and don’t encourage your pores to produce extra oil to compensate for too much washing.
Wash your face after you have worked up a sweat, first thing in the morning and right before bed is the sweet spot for healthy skin.
6. Wear Sunscreen
Wearing sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or above will prevent skin cancer. Keep your skin shielded from harmful UV rays guards against photo ageing, which is a process of skin ageing.
Make sure to apply a product of sunscreen every morning, even on days when it is raining or the sky is overcast.
5. Moisturise After Washing
Moisturise your skin with products that lock in moisture, promote healing and have antioxidant properties to encourage a glowing, youthful look. Never exfoliate your skin when it is dry, and do not skip moisturiser because your face feels oily.
You can apply moisturiser to your skin when it is still wet from a shower or from rinsing your face. This will actually lock in extra moisture.
4. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera has healing properties and can stimulate new cell growth. It soothes and moisturises with clogging pores. Use aloe vera after you have washed your face each day, and this will give your skin that healthy glow.
It is possible to be allergic to aloe vera, though. Test first by rubbing small amount on your forearm and if there is no reaction in 24 hours, it should be safe to use.
3. Drink More Water
Skin is made up of cells that need water to function. Studies conclude there is a strong link between more water and healthier skincare.
Aim for at least two litres of water per day.
2. Virgin Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is magical. It has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and healing properties. However, this may not work for every skin type. Do not use if you are allergic to coconut.
You can use coconut oil to:
- Take off makeup
- Soothe your skin barrier
- Promote healthy looking skin
1. Timeless Truth Mask
This mask heals irritated, cracked or damaged skin and helps bringing smoothness and hydration. It also improves the elasticity of the skin.
